★ DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY ASYLUM SEEKERS - EMERGENCY DONATIONS ARE NEEDED ★
We been working with the Department of Homeland Security welcoming people into our church as well as a few other churches here in the Valley. They are being released from the DHS Detention Centers after they get checked out by ICE. They have GPS Tracking Bracelets installed on their ankles and they need to report to ICE within the next 10 days after they have been released.
These families are coming from Central America and have already applied for Asylum. Our part in this process is to receive them, give them food, a secure place to take a shower, change clothes, and take care of them while they wait for their relatives to arrange travel plans for them to get to their destinations.
Even babies and small children have no warm clothing. When we finally have their tickets for them to go home, they are making trips of up to 2 to 4 days with destinations all over the country, like New York, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Ohio, Alabama, Oregon, and others. Since they are going so far, we are providing them with some money from $40 to $100 per family as they will need money to pay for small things like food and drinks.
